Top half
Bella told me that every entertainer knows the importance of being able to get in and out of their costume quickly. That is why I designed the top half of her dress with a slit in the back. Based on this I am calling the steps rows instead of rounds
Note: The edge with the straight line belongs in the middle of the back.
Row 1: Join yarn to a ch stitch from the first rnd, ch 1, work sc in each sc, {do not join with first sc} (24 sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, *sc in 4 sc, sc2tog; repeat from * (20 sc)
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, *sc in 3 sc, sc2tog; repeat from * (16 sc)
If you don’t crochet a row of fur at the bottom of the dress, then work row 4.
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc.
Back
Notes about the back
- Decreases are work along the edge that you will attach the sleeve.
- The edge that falls in the middle of Bella’s back should be straight
- You will work the back in two parts. This means you will have to attach the yarn for the second side of the back
Row 1: Ch 1, turn, sc in 3 sc, and slip st into sc (3 sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc in sc (2 sc)
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog
Join back to front and create a shoulder “strap”
There should be one sc space between the curved back edge and the front where you join the chain to create the “strap.’
Ch 8, join with slip stitch to a sc. On one side of the back wrong side of the chain may face out. If this is the case, then do the following.
Fasten off the back.
Join yarn to front, ch 8, and join with slip stitch to the back.
Finish back with slip stitches. Six slp sts along the straight edge and four over the back edge of sleeve and then ch 10 and fasten off.
Alternate Closure–You can use a hook and eye instead of a chain 1o.
Sleeve (make 2)
Join the yarn at the bottom of the armhole and ch 1. Work 12 sc along the opening. Join with first sc using a slp st. (12 sc)
Ch 1, sc in sc, hdc in 2 sc, dc in 6 sc, hdc in 2 sc, sc in sc, join to first sc with slp st.
Ch 1, sc in st, 2 sc in st, join to first sc with slp st —18 sc
Ch 1, sc in sc, sc2tog, join to first sc with slp st —12 sc
Ch 1, sc in each sc, join with slp st.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Red sew over the edge with fur yarn.
Red Version—The furn yarn was stitched over the sleeve edge.
Add fur collar
It is added to the front four stitches of each sleeves plus the front eight for a total of sixteen stitches
