Votive Instructions

Votive Base and First Row of Petals

Rnd 1: With purple yarn, ch 2, work 6 sc in the second ch from the hook; join with slp st to first sc. (6 sc)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, work 2sc in each sc; join with slp st to first sc. (12 sc)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, [Sc in each of next 1 sc, 2 sc in next sc] join with slp st to first sc. (18 sc)

Rnd 4: Ch 1, [Sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc] join with slp st to first sc. (24 sc)

Rnd 5: Ch 1, [Sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc] join with slp st to first sc. (30 sc)

Rnd 6: Ch 1, [Sc in each of next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc] join with slp st to first sc. (36 sc)

Rnds 7-9: Ch 1, sc in each sc; join with slp st to first sc.

Rnd 10: Ch 1, sc in first st, *skip 1 st, 5 dc in next st, skip 1 st, 1 sc in next st; Rep from * to end, after you worked the last 5 dc, slp st to join the first sc. Fasten off.

Second Row of Petals

The second layer of petals is worked virtually the same as round ten. You will crochet into the stitches that are two rows below the first layer of petals. Take the base and turn it upside down so that the petals are at the bottom. Join purple yarn below a group of 5 dc. This will create a staggered effect.  Ch 1, sc in first st, *skip 1 st, 5 DC in next st, skip 1 st, 1 SC in next st; Rep from * to end, after you worked the last 5 dc, slp st to join the first sc. Fasten off.

Leaf (make 3)

Double the grass yarn for the center chain base. The remainder of the leaf is worked single. With grass, ch 10. Sc in the second ch from the hook. Hdc in 2 ch. Dc in 2 ch. Tr in 3 ch. 3 dc in ch. Work stitches on the opposite side of the chain base. Tr in 3 ch. Dc in 2 ch. Hdc in 2 ch. Slp st to join first sc. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.  Weave yarn to base of leaf. Attach leaf to bottom of the flower. Weave in yarn ends and trim.
