Sew ribbing to hat with the seam side facing you. Stitch to hat by passing through the outside loop of the hat. Weave in yarn ends and trim. Fold ribbing up so that the seam is not visible.
How to Assemble the Crochet Penguin
- Face overlay and body overlay — sew them into place using the photo for reference. Weave in yarn ends and trim.
- Wings — sew to attach to body. Weave in yarn ends and trim. Placement reference points—I placed the wings so that they slightly overlapped the white belly. I sewed the front top edge of the wing into round 12 and the back top edge to round 15.
- Feet — center them on the bottom of the body. Sew into place, weave in yarn ends, and trim.
- Beak attachment. Center it approximately 1/2″ above the bottom “point” of the face overlay. Sew it into place, weave in yarn ends, and trim ends. Give the beak the appearance of having two parts by using three strands of black embroidery floss. Sew straight stitches along the outside edge of the beak.
- Eye — create, attach, and embellish. Cut two circles with 1/4″ diameter from black felt. You will use all strands of the white embroidery floss to add highlights to the eyes. Sew a small straight stitch on each eye. Glue into place. Make sure that the white stitch is in the same spot for on both eyes.
- Hat and scarf — if you would like them to be permanent, then sew them into place. Weave in yarn ends and trim. I made the scarf extra long so that it could be wrapped around the neck twice and tied.
