Instructions for the Three Flower Two-Hole Bead Ring
Create First Flower Unit
- Create the unit base. On four feet of beading thread, pick up 1A, 1B, 1A, 1B. 1A, 1B, 1A, and 1B. Pass through all the bead again to form a ring. Weave through beads so that you end up with the needle exiting a B bead.
- Embellish the unit. Pick up 1C and pass through the next B. Repeat a total of four times. Step up by passing through the second hole of the first C added.
- Turn Cs into pairs. Pick up 1D. Pass through the 2C — the fourth and first C (added in the previous step) again and the D you just added. Pass through the remaining 2C, D and 2C.
- Fill in the spaces between the C beads. [Pick up 2D. Pass through the next C. Pick up 1D and pass through the next C.] Repeat twice. The weave through the bead so that your needle is exiting an A bead from the base.
Create Second Flower Unit
- Create the base for the next unit. Pick up 1B, 1A, 1B, 1A, and 1B. Pass through 1A, 1B, and 1A (from the prior unit) and the first B picked up in this step.
- Embellish the unit. Pick up 1C and pass through the next B. Repeat a total of four times. Step up by passing through the second hole of the first C added.
- Repeat step three. Make sure that your pairs are in the same place as the previous unit. You will know that you’ve done it correctly when you go to fill the spaces with the fire polished beads. There should be a single E on the north and south side and 2E on the east and west side
- Repeat step four. Your needle should be exiting an A bead on the outside edge.
Create Third Flower Unit
Repeat steps three to eight to create third unit.
Making the band
You will create the band using the herringbone stitch.
Create band transition
Weave thread so that it is exiting a pearl along width of the first or third unit. Pick up 1A, 2D, and 1A. Complete the circuit by passing through the pearl and then pass through the first two beads picked up.
Start herringbone band
Pick up 2D. Pass down through the D below and up through the next D and the first one picked up in this step. Work a second stitch using D.
Attach a new thread to the opposite side and create a band transition. (I like working the band from both sides and meeting in the middle.)
Using A continue working in the herringbone stitch until the band is long enough to wrap around your finger. Connect the ends by passing through the beads on the other side following herringbone stitch thread path.
Reinforce stitches if needed. Weave in thread ends and trim.
