Free Pattern — Crochet Egg Cozy
Are you looking to add an extra special touch to your Easter decorations without breaking the bank? A crochet Easter egg cozy is a budget friendly way to do so. Plus, I included thee additional sections to make this beginner friendly: construction options, finishing options, and help.
Crochet Egg Cozy Construction Options
- No decrease option. You will create the cozy in two parts.
- One piece center slit.
- One piece with open bottom.
Crochet Egg Cozy Finishing Options
- Glue the egg cozy to plastic egg.
- This can be applied to construction options one and two.
- You can skip sewing the top and bottom together for option one if you glue the pieces to the plastic egg.
- How you decorate your cozy is up to you. The rabbits below are examples of what you could do. Starting with the rabbit on the left. First rabbit has the inside of the ears decorated with pink felt, eyes cut in crescent shape from felt, and nose and mouth were done with embroidery floss. Second rabbit has the inside of ears painted with fabric ink, the eyes are circles in black felt, the face was embellished with felt. Third rabbit is pink, nothing was added to the inside of the ears, the eyes are circles in black felt and the face was embellished with felt.
Help — this pattern does not work with the plastic eggs I bought.
There are different ways to easily adjust the pattern to fit the plastic eggs you bought.
- Adjust how tightly you crochet. If the egg is too big for the cozy, then crochet looser. If the egg is too small for the cozy, then crochet tighter.
- Use a different size crochet hook. Use a smaller one to make the cozy smaller or use a larger one to make it bigger.
- Adjust the number of single crochets worked in round one. Increase the number to make bigger or decrease the number to make smaller. (Keep in mind this will impact the stitch count.)
