Assemble Crochet Spider
Use photo for reference regarding placement of legs and face detail
- Attach head to body. Stuff head and sew to body. Weave in yarn ends and trim.
- Legs— sew four legs to each side of the body. Weave in yarn ends and trim.
- Add face detail. Eyeballs—cut two ovals that are approximately 3/4″ long X 1/2″ wide from yellow felt. Pupils—cut two circle with 1/4″ diameter from black felt. Teeth—cut two triangles that are approximately 1/4″ from white felt. First, glue pupils to eyeballs and then glue them to the head. Stitch a zig-zag mouth using red embroidery floss (all strands). Glue teeth under mouth.
- Insert votive into body and fill with desired candy.
Spider Web
The number of ch stitches between the double crochets is equal to the round number upon which you are working. For example, if you are working round 3, then there should be 3 ch stiches between the double crochet.
Rnd 1: Use a 4mm crochet hook with mustard yarn, ch 5, slip st to the first ch. Ch 4 (counts as 1dc and 1ch), ch 1, dc into the ring, (12 dc including the first ch) slip st to the 3rd chain. (12 dc)
Rnd 2: Ch 5, dc into next dc, ch 2. Repeat around. Join with slp st to 3rd ch.
Rnds 3-12: Work as described above, just increase the number of ch sts between dc to correspond with the round number upon which you are working.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Block piece if desired to help it to lay flat.
