Instructions
- On a yard of beading thread, pick up 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1B. Pass through the next hole of A. Repeat embellishment on other side. Pick up 1B, 1C, and 1B. Pass through the next hole. Repeat thread path to secure. You should end up with the needle exiting a B.
- Fill in the spaces between the B beads with 3C on each side. Weave around the beads surround A and then step up by weaving around and passing through the first C of a group of three.
- Fill in spaces and make corners with E. Pick up 1E and pass through the next C—two times. Make corner by picking up 1B, 1E, and 1B. Pass through the next C. Make three more corners and fill in the second side. Step up by passing through the second hole of the first E added in this step.
- Pick up 1B. Pass through the next E. Make a corner by picking up 5B and pass through the next E. Pick up 6D (these will be the base of the peyote bail) and pass through the next E. Make a corner. Pick up 1B and pass through the next E. Make a corner. Pick up 5D. Pass through the next E. Make your fourth corner.
Embellish corner beads and reinforce frame
Weave through the bead so that your needle is exiting the center bead of a group of 5B. Pick up 3D. Pass through the original bead again. Weave needle around so that you can repeat on the remaining three corners. Then weave needle through beads so that it is the group of 6D
Make Peyote Stitch Bail
Make peyote stitch Bail using D. Pick up 1D. Skip 1D and pass through the next. Continue across the row. Work 16 rows in the peyote stitch. The original 6D counts as two rows. Zip stitch the closed by passing the needle back and forth from the last row work and the original beads. Weave in thread ends and trim.
