Crochet Easter Chick Pattern for Subscribers
This amigurumi crochet Easter chick would make an adorable addition to any Easter basket. Not only is it super cute, but also it is economical to make. The yarn used has good yardage–186 per skein.

Crochet Easter Chick Materials
Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton worsted weight yarn (3.5 oz/186 yds/100g per ball):
1 ball #761-133 Tangerine
1 ball #761-157 Lemon
Poly-fil® fiberfill
Two 10mm Cartoon Safety Eyes
Dark Brown Embroidery Floss

Size G6/4.00mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

Instructions for the Crochet Easter Chick
Pattern Note: Do not join rounds. Use stitch marker to mark rounds.
Head
Rnd 1: With Lemon yarn, ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook, place stitch marker. (8 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (16 sc)
Rnd 3: [Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] around. (24 sc)
Rnd 4: [Sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around. (32 sc)
Rnds 5- 10: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 11: [Sc in each of next 2sc, sc dec next 2 sc] around. (24sc)
Rnd 12: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 13: [Sc in each of next sc, sc dec next 2 sc] around. (16 sc)
Rnd 14: 2 sc in each sc around. (32 sc)
Rnd 15: Sc2tog (repeat eight times)*, sc in 16 sc. (24 sc)
Rnd 16: [Sc in each of next sc, sc dec next 2 sc] around. (16 sc)
Insert safety eyes —there are four stitches between them. Stuff.
Rnd 17: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 18: [Sc dec in next 2 sc] around. (8 sc)
Rnd 17: Sc in each sc around.
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
*These eight stitches belong to the back of the head. Please keep this in mind when you insert the safety eyes.
Beak
Rnd 1: With Tangerine yarn, ch 2, 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook, place stitch marker. (4 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (8 sc)
Rnd 3: Sc in each sc around.
Fasten off leaving a tail for sewing.
Embroider using two strands of brown embroidery floss using the photo for reference.
Body
Rnd 1: With Lemon yarn, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, place stitch marker. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)
Rnd 3: [Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] around. (18 sc)
Rnd 4: [Sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around. (24 sc)
Rnd 5: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 6: [Sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around. (30 sc)
Rnds 7-8: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 9: [Sc in each of next 3 sc, sc dec next 2 sc] around. (24sc)
Rnd 10: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 11: [Sc in each of next 2 sc, sc dec next 2 sc] around. (18 sc)

Wing (make 2)
Row 1: With Lemon yarn, ch 2, in the second ch from the hook 3 sc. (3 sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in sc, sc in sc, 2 sc in sc. (5 sc)
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc.
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in sc, sc in 3 sc, 2 sc in sc. (7 sc)
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc in 3 sc, sc2tog. (5 sc)
Row 6: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc in sc, sc2tog. (3 sc)
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
Foot (make 2)
With Tangerine yarn, ch 4. Slp st in the second ch from the hook. Ch 3. Slp st into the same ch and the next. Repeat into the next ch. Ch 3 and slp st into same ch. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
Assemble
- Head and Body—sew the openings of the head and the body closed and then sew them together.
- Beak—center it between the eyes and sew into place.
- Wings—using photo for reference sew into place.
- Feet—to bottom of body.
- Baby Chick Fuzz—start with a 1 1/2″ piece of Lemon yarn. Attach it by knotting it the top to head. Then separate it into strands.
- Weave in ends and trim.
