Why make a needle Felted Rabbit?
Needle felting is an inexpensive way to create something special for an Easter Basket. This Project appeared in the April 2011 issue of Create & Decorate.
What is Needle Felting?
I think of needle felting as sculpting with wool roving in order to create something like this needle felted rabbit. In more specific terms, needle felting is the process of interlocking wool fibers by stabbing it with a barbed needle. The barbs catch the scales on the fiber and cause them to tangle and bind together.
What materials do you sculpt with to create the needle felted rabbit?
The material you sculpt with is wool roving. Roving is created during the process of creating yarn from fibers, such as wool. It is the step before spinning the fiber into yarn. In other words, it is unspun yarn. Click here to see examples of wool roving.
