Free Amigurumi Pattern
This is a free crochet Amigurumi Japanese Maiden pattern. The sweet young Japanese maiden is wearing a traditional kimono and obi belt. She is approximately 6 1/2″ tall and (from fingertip to fingertip) is 4 1/2″ wide.
Amigurumi Japanese Maiden Materials
- Medium: Worsted-Weight Wool—1 Skein of Each Color
- White, Black and Fuchsia
- Crochet Hook—Size H8/5.00mm
- Split Ring Stitch Marker
- Poly-fil® fiberfill

- (2) 6mm Black Safety Eyes
- 2 small yellow beads
- Embroidery Needle
- Ribbon
- Scrap piece of Red Fabric
- Black Embroidery Floss
Instructions for Amigurumi Japanese Maiden
Hair
Rnd 1: With black yarn, ch 2. Work 8 sc in second chain from hook. Mark first st for beg of rnd; move marker up each rnd. (8 sc)
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around (16 sc)
Rnd 3: *Sc in next 1sc, work 2 sc in the next sc; repeat from * (24 sc)
Rnd 4: *Sc in next 2sc, work 2 sc in the next sc; repeat from * (32 sc)
Rnd 5: Sl st into 8s, sc in next 3sc, work 2 sc in the next sc; repeat from * (30 sc)
From this point on, ch1 at the end of each row, and turn.
Rnds 6-10: Sc in each sc.
Rnd 11: *Sc in next 3sc, dec 1 in the next sc; repeat from * (24 sc)
Rnd 12: Sc in each sc
Rnd 13: *Sc in next 2sc, dec 1 in the next sc; repeat from * (18 sc)
Rnd 14: Sc in each sc.
Rnd 15: 3sc on both corners and sc on the three sides framing the face.
Fasten off.
Additional Hair—Bun (make 2)
Rnd 1: With black yarn, ch 2. Work 5 sc in second chain from hook. Mark first st for beg of rnd; move marker up each rnd. (5 sc)
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around (10 sc)
Rnds 3-4: Sc in each sc.
Stuff, fasten off, and leave a tail for sewing
Head
Rnd 1: With white yarn, ch 2. Work 7 sc in second chain from hook. Mark first st for beg of rnd; move marker up each rnd. (7 sc)
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around (14 sc)
Rnd 3: *Sc in next 1sc, work 2 sc in the next sc; repeat from * (21 sc)
Rnd 4: *Sc in next 2sc, work 2 sc in the next sc; repeat from * (28 sc)
Rnd 5: *Sc in next 3sc, work 2 sc in the next sc; repeat from * (35 sc)
Rnds 6-10: Sc in each sc .
Rnd 11: *Sc in next 3sc, dec 1 in the next sc; repeat from * (28 sc)
Rnd 12: Sc in each sc.
Insert safety eyes and sew eyelashes using black embroidery floss.
Rnd 13: *SC in next 2sc, dec 1 in the next sc; repeat from * (21 sc)
Stuff, put in position the safety eyes and close the security.

Rnd 10: *Sc in next 2sc, dec 1 in the next sc; repeat from* (21 sc)
Rnds 11-15: Sc in each sc.
Rnd 16: *Sc in next sc dec 1 in the next sc; repeat from* (14 sc)
Rnd 17: Sc in each sc.
Stuff.
Rnd 18: Dec 1 in each sc around.
Fasten off and leave tail for sewing to the head.

Leg (make 2)
Rnd 1: With black yarn, ch 2. Work 8 sc in second chain from hook Mark first st for beg of rnd; move marker up each rnd. (8 sc)
Rnds 2-4: Sc in each sc.
Stuff, fasten off, and leave a tail for sewing.
Arm (make 2)
Rnd 1: With white yarn, ch 2. Work 4 sc in second chain from hook. Mark first st for beg of rnd; move marker up each rnd. (4 sc)
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around (8 sc)
Rnds 3-4: Sc in each sc.
Change color to Fuchsia
Rnds 5-6: Sc in each sc.
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing to the body
Turn arm around so that the closed end is facing away from you.
Rnd 1: With the Fuchsia yarn sc 9 times into the spaces between the two colors. Mark first st for beg of rnd; move marker up each rnd.
Rnds 2-3: Sc in each sc.
Rnd 4: 2 sc in first sc and sc in each remaining sc
Fasten off and tuck extra yarn ends in and stuff.
